Dear all.Today tragic news reached us about the crash of a former Yakkes aircraft at Lelystad airport. The aircraft was sold two years ago to a new owner and left the foundation. The aircraft was recently complete overhauled by it's new owner.The pilot instantly died today with the crash, so sad.We would like to give our deepest condolences to the family left behind with this tragic los.Team

Schaffen Diest 2009 was a mixed up feeling weekend. It was time for the red Yak to return to it’s homebase in Belgium. And when the weather get’s tough, the tough go to Volkel airforce base in beautiful Brabant, home of the Tigers, 313 Squadron.Here our Yak found (a) shelter for the winter months. After a very slow start of Yakkes season finally everything is back on track. Just finished a major update of our Yakkes-Census. While other Yakkesmembers took some R&R time to tan their lazy buts in the Caribbean sun, I worked mine off to update the Yakkes-census.- 10 new Yak-52’s were added;- 123 new photos of Yak-52’s were added;- 214 Yak-52 files were updated;Nice numbers! I’ve met Harrold Gunnink of Airbrush Studio Lijnden. He is a real master artist in the Airbrush technique. Harrold has become a true specialist in airbrushing helmets and he suggested PIMPING one of our HGU-55 helmets into the colours of the Red colored Yak. We're pretty proud to announce that a new pilot has joined our team, Ralph “Sheik” Aarts. Recently Ralph is checked out by Gennady Elfimov at our Yak’s. Sheik will fly the Yak-52 and the new Yak-50 in the future, for training purposes and demonstration flights. After a short break it’s back to business. The open day was very well visited. Over 900 people went to Eindhoven airport to see our Yaks and talk to the crew members. Yakkes welcomed over 80 new members what makes a total of 240 members now, well done promo team and volunteers! November 25th a new open day will be a fact in the Solid aiR hangar in Eindhoven. Thought it would be easy to make it a bit bigger this time than the usual parties in the past years. Yes, it is easy, however the amount of work it takes along is a LOT more, but I will assure you it will be worth it. As chief ground crew and member relations consultant, I do try to promote the Yakkes Foundation at several occasions. This time it was "The Dutch Spotters convention" at the Dutch Dakota Hangar at Schiphol-East in the Netherlands. The airshow at Bonn Hangelar was a success with a sad end. The Camouflage Yak cancelled due to a technical problem, so we only had two Yak's to go to Hangelar.
